Down Survey

An article in Independent.ie explains about a collection of maps assembled in Trinity College Dublin that reveals the ownership of lands taken from Irish families and given to landlords during the Cromwellian Plantation of 1670. It’s called the Down Survey which refers to the chains put on the ground to measure the land. This survey is by parish, barony, and county. Go to www.downsurvey.tcd.ie for more info.
