An article in the Washington Post dated Jan. 14, 2022, states that they’re researching over 5,500 members of Congress who were born before 1840; over 1700 owned people. There were over 500 who couldn’t decide whether they owned people or not. They’re looking for folks who may have research to share. They suggest that perhaps a history teacher could use the search as an assignment for their students. All the New England states have names of interest.
