We are going to relate a little history of how some of our information is acquired.
On January 5, 2018, via Aroostook Genealogy, Shirley Wells uploaded a pdf file titled “William Bubar” with the comment;” I thought some of you might enjoy this.”
The source newspaper, “Democrat and Chronicle,” (Rochester, New York) Thursday, 19 February 1903, page 8. The top line states that it was a letter to The Boston Globe.
I shared the article, where more people viewed it. Among them was Brent Bubar, a 4x great-nephew of William Bubar. He made it in a larger print and clearer copy and posted it. There are many descendants of this gentleman who are interested in seeing an account such as this, as it was written in his lifetime.
Research done by others relayed to me is that he was the son of William Bubar and Rebecca Mills & he married Mariah Gee. He was born in 1815 and died Jan. 16, 1907 which made him 92 years of age. He lived four years after this interview.
January 2018 donations
The Story of the Maine 15th, book donated by Don and Patty Carson.
National Archives have copies of the Pension application for Civil War soldier Stephen P. McDougall, by his mother Susannah [Bubar] on hers and her disabled husband Alexander’s behalf. There are 16 numbered pages; three more have an “a” page which brings the total to 19 pages. Anyone may copy them, please take care to return the original copy to the file. The original has a round ACGS logo, circled by a yellow highlighter. This ensures that everyone at a later date has a copy with the same degree of clarity. Donated by Leslie Poole
Ray Hildebrand gave copies of old historical significance which I need to process.
Monetary donations
Jay & I sent some information that Leslie Poole needed. She reimbursed the postage and gave $15. which we donated to the group, sold one of our used books $25. Total $40 to ACGS treasury.
Dennis, Ann & I have been working on the corrections, additions, updates, and clarifications to our “The Families of the Upper Saint John Valley in 1790” book, in response to reader suggestions and editor finds. This will be circulated via ACGS website, e-mails and hard copies when completed.
