President’s Message, January 2015

Happy 2015 to all, my New Years’ wish is that everyone find something previously unknown about at least one ancestor.

As we begin our 11th year at ACGS, we have plans to make and projects we hope to complete this year.

I would like to give a big Thank-you to:

Spike, out-going president;
Frances, secretary;
Jay, treasurer/newsletter editor and publisher;
Dennis author of This Old Tree;
Ann for Odds and Ends, Tidbits and Stuff;
Heather, our web master; and
all members who gave of their time and resources.

It was a very busy year with the completion and publishing of THE FAMILIES OF THE UPPER SAINT JOHN VALLEY IN 1790, and subsequent promotion and sales of the book.

Our exhibit at the Northern Maine Fair as always requires extra time and this year we acquired the “Most Knowledgeable Staff” award, Thank-you to all the dedicated members who worked on that project.

I would like to see membership increase; perhaps we could invite someone new and offer to pick him or her up on meeting night.

Also looking for guest speakers on subjects pertaining to our groups’ interests, goals and purpose.

At this time, there will be no changes to the meeting format. If you have any suggestions for me, I am ready to listen and take them under advisement.

Remember that our older citizens are housebound during the winter and this is probably a good time to visit someone and question them about their family, customs, hometown, occupations, military experience or whatever they want to talk about. They don’t need to be a relative and you may learn a lot more than you imagined.
