Our family needs help with a brick wall! We are searching for a great grandfather, Jeff LaBonte, that was born in Canada (although his adult children thought France). I think he must have been French-speaking. He was married to Mary Hannah Buckley (b. 1847 in PA d.1907 in Fort Fairfield, ME). They were listed in 1870 census in Emporium, Pennsylvania with two daughters (Emma and Ellen/Ella). His name was listed as Ze Le Bont (b. 1845) born in Canada. That is the ONLY official record of him we have. He and Mary had four more children in PA (Frank, Alice, Grace, Bessie). We are pretty sure he was working in the lumber industry in the PA woods. Two of their girls were “adopted out” in PA before 1880, one was my grandmother, Grace Gertrude. Mary Buckley then appeared in Maine married to Charles Lovely. She and Charles had several more children; they are in censuses from Fort Fairfield and Drew. Can anyone help us find Jeff LaBonte? The place where his name is Jeff is in my grandmother family Bible with his and Mary’s names written in above her adopted parents. I have more info on Mary and their children, if needed. Thanks so much!!!!
