Crystal is a town in Aroostook County whose organization as a plantation was “legalized” by the Legislature on February 21, 1878. It was incorporated as a town on March 21, 1901. Its population in 1880 was 275, not far from the average of 297 for the period 1970-2010. William Young from Searsmont was the first settler in 1839.
