Looking for information on a Roseannah/Roseanne CHASE who was born in 1805 in NB and died in about 1848 in Houlton, Maine. She married John WILSON who was born in Ireland in 1796 and died in Houlton in 1851.
I have research your question. John Wilson and Rosannah Chase were married in Woodstock, New Brunswick on July 7 ,1822
There only one Chase family in Woodstock at that time. Ruben Chase b. 1761 d. after 1850 in Belfast Academy Grant (now Ludlow, Maine. Ruben and his wife Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) had at least 5 children
1. Ruben Jr. married Mary Brown July 30, 1823 Woodstock, 2. Betsy b.1800
married Elias Brown (brother to Ruben wife Mary) May 12, 1823 in Woodstock 3. Sarah b. 1805 married Caleb Wright Jan. 29, 1822 in Woodstock 4. Rosannah married John Wilson on July 16, 1822 5. John b. 1810 married Hannah (maiden name unknown) about 1832.
Betsy moved to Caribou, Sarah moved to Presque Isle,
Rosannah moved to Houlton and John with his parents to Belfast Academy Grant now the town of Ludlow.
John and Rosannah had at least five children
1. Edward 1823, Isa b. 1828, Mary b. 1829, John b. 1832 and Susan b. 1840.
Ruben 1761-1850’s was the son of Reuben Chase from Danbury Connecticut b. Nov. 24, 1738- d. August 7, 1825 Gagetown, Queens, New Brunswick. Ruben was a Loyalist.
Thank you very much to Dennis for opening a door to the past on this Chase family for me, which, by the way, goes all the way back to the Mayflower. Reuben Chase I was a Loyalist. I am finding very little on his son, Reuben II (1761-1850) other than census reports in Hodgdon (1830, 1840, 1850). I don’t know his wife’s name other than Elizabeth, and where they are buried. Daughter Rosanna is a mystery as well. She is nowhere to be found. She married John Wilson of Ireland. But where in Ireland? Does anyone have any further information on this family? Thank you to the society for this chance to connect!
