Social Distancing Challenges

Because the Covid-19 virus is still affecting our lives, and we practice social distancing, the library is still closed. We work from home as we are able. Some requests for help still come in. To help answer one of these, I reached out to a lady who has donated a copy of her family tree to ACGS. When I received no response to my e-mail, I checked obituaries since she was 94 years old.

Beverly-Jean Small Nickerson, who was born in 1927, died on April 5, 2020, in Helmet, California. Her Small-Carr Genealogy is in our library. She was a very active Mayflower descendant. Her husband, Bob, the same age, does not appear deceased. I sent condolences to the family.

ACGS (Jay) received an e-mail from Joan Lozier, a former member of our group. She has relocated to Florida from Connecticut, and she was offering 3-ring binders, sheet protectors, hanging file folders, and dividers – sent to us at her expense.

Ann and I conferred and agreed that library supplies would be needed for some time, as our library construction is an expanding and ongoing project. I messaged Joan and let her know we would gratefully accept whatever she wanted to give to us. Two large boxes of materials arrived this week. They are in perfect condition, although used.

I have thanked her, and we will circulate one card for all of us who are available, to message her and sign. She enclosed her card and asked that I share it with members to check her website out. In her words, “since we are probably all related.”

Keep up the good work, and stay safe.
